Green Campaign in the Heart of River Ganges

Objective:

The main objective includes -

  1. Planting seeds on the banks of the river Ganges.
  2. Encouraging local people to carry the campaign for plantation.
  3. Enquiry of fertile lands for plantation.

Places covered: The first phase of the project was focused in West Bengal. The program was started from Kalna, Bardwan and culminated at Samudragarh, Nadia.

Duration of the Project: 4 days (1st Phase)

Date of Commencement: 13th June, 2014

Leader of the Team: Shibu Debnath (Eminent Social Activist who has a record of tree plantation throughout a stretch of 10,000 km in India).

Fund: Self Funded

Mode of operation:
A machine driven boat took the team to the river banks. The detailed map of fertile lands were taken from the Irrigation Department. The team continued to find the proper places for plantation. The boat carried some 8-10 Lakhs of seeds of different plants which can grow naturally during monsoon.
