Yesterday(22/08/2011) was Janmashtami. I went to the Laxmi-Narayan Mandir(Birla Mandir) in New Delhi. The atmosphere was very good, there were thousands of people standing in the queue in order to enter into the Mandir and worship "Radha-Krishna" there. And the decoration was really eye-catching! But something that made me feel bad is the use of GLS(normal) bulbs to decorate the whole place.

I know that the effect of lighting or decorating with GLS bulbs is more colorful and exciting but what I want to say is that the amount of energy lost here! Our world is at the middle of huge energy crisis and people are being requested to preserve energy in whichever way possible.But here, an occasion which could have been a platform to make more and more people aware of energy-saving, instead of doing that, this occasion encouraged usage of GLS bulbs for decorating purpose(and a lot of energy is wasted)! I don't know how, but one has to replace the GLS bulbs and create the same ambiance. And we the common people must be made aware of the energy-crisis situation in all the ways possible!
