Brazilian alpinist, Moeses Fiamoncini (39) from Rio Negro SC, with three other accomplished mountaineers, aim to climb Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m) followed by a traverse without supplemental oxygen. They intend to approach through the South-East Ridge (Nepal Side) to reach the summit of Everest while ascending through Camp-1 from Base Camp to Camp-4, and finally to the summit of Lhotse after coming back to Camp-4. They are eyeing on the traverse once the stall on clear climate lifts as early as possible. Moeses, along with his three other expedition cohorts and long-term friends - Spanish climber Sergi Mingote Moreno (48), Juan Pablo Mohr Prieto (32) from Chile and Carlos Garranzo from Madrid, Spain are likely to target for the summit push on or after May 10, 2019, as Moeses informed while speaking to Dream Wanderlust a few days ago. If he successfully manages to complete this proposed traverse, Moeses will be the first Brazilian to summit Everest and Lhotse in the same attempt.
Recently, Seven Summit Treks, Nepal-based expedition agency has issued a statement saying, "According to our manager at Camp-2 Mr. Rinjee Sherpa, many things at Camp-2 has been damaged while rest of the camps and Base Camp are safe and in a stable situation." Moeses, along with Carlos, Sergi, and Juan Pablo had previously descended to Gorak Shep (5164m), 300m down from the Base Camp after the avalanche struck at Everest few days ago. They suspect that the recent Indian disaster by cyclone Fani has also had a sheer repercussion in the Himalayan climate. They came back to the Base Camp of Everest on May 6 and are gearing up for the final summit push on 14-15th May, Carlos mentioned in his personal blog yesterday. As per as their ballpark strategy, in four days, they are planning to climb directly up to Camp-2 (6400m) from Base Camp, then on to Camp-3 (7162m) on 12th and Camp-4 the next day, followed by the countdown to the final ascension to summit and traverse, only if the weather permits.
As we reported earlier, Moeses and Sergi's partnership has brought them accomplishments in both of their mountaineering career in last Autumn, when they climbed Mansalu on 25th September in 2018. Sergi has also been eyeing on his ambitious individual project to climb total of six eight-thousanders without supplemental oxygen by this July.
