Debabrata Mukherjee, a Bengali mountaineer from India is on an expedition to explore a new trek route between Tosh and Manali via Animal pass (4780m), Do-angan Col (5260m) and Jagatsukh in Himachal Pradesh, India. This new route would pass through two high altitude passes and will be up to an altitude of 5260m. This would connect the base of Deo Tiba and Shamshi Thach.
He along with his team is now at Manali and will leave for Tosh on 26th April. Besides Debabrata Mukherjee the exploration team comprises Partha Sarathi Moulik, Subhamoy Ghosh, Dhrubaranjan Dalui, a cook and two-three porters.
"Animal pass (4780m) and Do-angan/Devangan Col (5260m) are the two high altitude passes and the area between these two passes are yet to be explored. As the road heads are reaching higher places day by day and trekking routes are getting shorter accordingly, new routes need to be explored and opened for the posterity. Like route through Panpatia opened by us is now a popular trek ," explains Debabrata Mukherjee as the main objective behind this trek from Manali.
