Indian Climber, Narayan Iyer from Maharashtra died on Kangchenjugha last night at around 8,200m during his summit push from Camp-IV. At least 24 climbers have successfully summited the mountain on the same day.
His Sherpa team informed the agency via satellite communication last night. Narayan Iyer was supported by Pioneer Adventure Pvt. Ltd. According to his agency, based on his Sherpa's inputs Narayan Iyer felt sick during his summit push and he denied his Sherpa's advice to descend to camp -IV. It is presumed that he has died of exhaustion and AMS during the night.
The rope fixing team made it to the summit in the afternoon yesterday. After that, 12 climbers from Pioneer Adventure Pvt. Ltd. successfully summited at around 16:52 hrs (local time).
Dream Wanderlust spoke to Nivesh Karki, the Director of the Pioneer Agency this morning. He informed, "Narayan Iyer felt sick after Camp IV. He was moving slowly. His guide asked him to come down to Camp-IV, abandoning the summit attempt. However, the climber has reportedly denied the same." It is to be noted that the summit time was late considering the mountain like Kangchenjugha. The climbers have limited supplemental oxygen. The climbers will be back to the Base Camp by this evening. Detailed information can be obtained only after having a conversation with his Sherpa team and its leader.
However, four Indians, Bhagwan Bhikoba Chawale, Pankaj Kumar, Manisha Rishi Gaind, and Priyanka Mangesh Mohite made it to the top of Kangchenjugha from the Pioneer Adventure Team.
Mingma G Sherpa (from Imagine Nepal ) with his team is also on Kangchenjugha after their Dhaulagiri Summit. They participated in the rope fixing team on Kangchenjugha. Due to the bad weather, they abandoned their previous attempt. They are now waiting at camp-3 for a fresh summit bid.
