Mountaineer, Cyclist Satya Ranjan Sen Passes Away

Veteran trekker,mountaineer, cyclist and author Satya Ranjan Sen passes away today (18-03-2016) at his residence in Ichapore, West Bengal at the age of 65.

Satya Ranjan Sen

Satya Ranjan Sen (65) was a retired Defence Officer from Ichapur (North 24 Parganas), West Bengal, India. He is a famous name among Bengali trekking and mountaineering community having successfully completed numerous treks to many mountains and coastal regions of India. He was also among one of the Indian travellers to travel extensively all across pan India and document them. He was also a renowned cyclist and had successfully led a cycling trail covering four foreign countries - Thailand-Laos-Vietnum-Combodia (2013-2014). Many of his documents and journals are published in some of the Bengali travel magazines. He was a keen writer and wanted his travel journals to be read as a work of literature and not just some informative document. He took basic mountaineering training from Manali in1989. He took part several expedition In Himalaya that includes Gangotri - Three Peak (1993),Chow Chow - Kang-Nangla (Himachal), Kalindi (Garwal) He was mentioned several times by news media for his cycle expeditions.
