A recent study says that living at higher altitude reduces the risk of lung cancer in both smoker as well as non-smokers. The study from Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania found that the lower concentration of Oxygen and atmospheric pressure help to reduce the risk. It is claimed that for every 1,000-meter rise in elevation, lung cancer incidence in the population living in that area decreased by 7.23 cases per 100,000 individuals. However, this rate is not applicable to the equally pernicious cancers such as colorectal, breast, and prostate.
