A team of eight members have returned safely after a successful expedition to Mt. Sudarshan (6507m) and Mt. Saife (6161m).
Rajsekhar Maity, the team leader, clarified that this team had two objectives. The more experienced members would test their skills on Sudarshan, and the junior memebers would gain valuable experiences on the relatively easier Saife.
Sujit Bag, Ashish Gupta and HAP Raj Bahadur summited Sudarshan on 11 September, 2017 at around 2:20 pm.
Sayantan Dutta, Avik Mondal and HAP Sarvan summited Saife on 9 September, 2017 at around 9:10 am.
Anindya Mukherjee, Pradip Bar and Koushik Das also summited Saife, without HAP support, on 11 September, 2017 at around 10:30 am.
On 29th August the team trekked out from Gangotri. The Raktavarna Nala was in full flow and the team needed ropes to cross it, and moved to Camp-1 (4748m) on 2 September. Camp-2 (5242m) was occupied from 3-4 September near snout of Swetvaran Glacier. On 6 September Camp-3 (5636m) was occupied by team Sudarshan.
On 8 September team Sudarshan occupied Camp-4 (6044m) having opened route across crevasses. On 9th September team Sudarshan with HAP Raj Bahadur opened and fixed the route up the sharp summit ridge up to 6300m. They summited on 11 September.
Meanwhile team Saife moved to Camp-3 (5700m) on 8 September. On 9 September the 1st team on Saife reached the summit. On 10 September the 2nd team on Saife waited out a space of bad weather at Camp-3, and they too summited on 11 September, by the conventional North-East face along cornice of a knife sharp North-West ridge. By 12 September all members were down at Base Camp, and reached Gangotri on 13 September, 2017.
