Two climbers from team Giripremi summited Mt. Manaslu
Dream Wanderlust | Sept 26 , 2017
Pune-based expedition team, Giripremi reached the top of Manaslu (8163m) on 26th September, 2017. Ashish Mane (27) and Akshay Patke (26) along with their Sherpa, Dorchi Sherpa, Mingma Sherpa, Forbu Dorchi Sherpa and Tenzing Sherpa of Peak Promotion Nepal, reached the top at around 4 am and 4:30 am respectively, today. Before Mt. Manaslu, Ashish Mane has already summited three eight
thousanders, Mt. Everest in 2012, Mt. Lhotse in 2013, Mt. Makalu in 2014. In 2016 he tried for Mt. Dhaulagiri but fell short by just 200 meters from the peak. On the other hand, it is the first eight thousander summit for Akshay Patke. Like Ashish, he too felt short of Mt. Dhaulagiri by just 200 meters in 2016.
This year, under the leadership of veteran mountaineer and Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Umesh Zirpe, both the mountaineers made use of all of their experience and skill to summit one of the toughest mountains. The summit route to Mansalu was tricky. There is a huge wall of 700 meters between Camp-1 and Camp-2 which they needed to climb. Along with this, there were huge crevasses along the route. However, the team overcame all the obstacles and successfully summited the peak. With the completion of this feat Giripremi bagged its 6th eight thousander after the successful summits of Mt. Everest (2013), Mt. Lhotse (2013), Mt. Makalu (2014), Mt. Cho Oyu (2016), Mt. Dhaulagiri (2016) and now Mt. Manaslu (2017).
