UN climate conference warned that 2 degrees global warming is not safe

Due to the mounting harmful effects of global warming such as heat waves and sea level rise, there is a need for radical transition to a greener economy. Damages are growing even though temperatures have risen by a mere 0.85 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial times, which is less than half of the acceptable limit of 2 degree Celsius. This has prompted many developing nations to revise the ceiling of 2 degree Celsius to 1.5 degree Celsius above pre-industrial times to combat the effects of storms, floods, droughts and sea level rise.
