Broad Peak
Russian alpinist Denis Urubko, with his foremost objective of summiting Broad Peak (Possibly K2 too), along with Canadian climber Don Bowie and Finnish Lotta Hintsa, is now at Base Camp, waiting to climbed up again to set up Camp-3. So far, they have reached 6700m on the mountain.
Earlier, the team arrived at the Base Camp (4840m) on 27th December, 2019. Denis and Lotta fixed a deposit camp at 5100m on 28th December, 2019. On 2nd January, 2020 Denis and Don reached Camp-1 (5800m) and returned back to the Base Camp. Denis returned to Base Camp on 6th January, 2020, after spending a night at Camp-1. The team then spent a couple of nights at Camp-1 on 8th and 9th January, 2020. On 9th, Don and Denis fixed rope up to 6100m. On the next day, 10th January, 2020, the duo established the Camp-2 (6200m), later, together with Lotta, they returned to the Base Camp. On 16th January, 2020, they climbed up again till Camp-1 and spent the night there and the next day, on 17th, they climbed up to Camp-2 and stayed there. On 18th January, 2020, Don and Denis fixed rope up to 6700m and the team stayed at Camp-2. On 19th January, 2020, the team returned back to Base Camp.
K2
Mingma G. Sherpa, who, with an international team, is set to climb K2 this Winter, arrived at Broad Peak Base Camp on 21st January, 2020, and is expected to reach the K2 Base Camp on 22nd January, 2020. Mingma announced previously that he will try to climb the mountain without supplemental oxygen.
Everest
1. German alpinist Jost Kobusch, who is on his Solo Everest Winter Expedition by the West Ridge is now at the Base Camp. According to his plan, he climbed upto Camp-1 (6000m), accompanied by his cinematographer Daniel Hug who recently left the Base Camp for Germany. Jost checked his route by the West Ridge up to 6180m. Jost started his Solo venture on 18th January, 2020, and climbed up to Camp-1 and spent four nights there. On 22nd January, 2020, he returned back to Base Camp.
2. Spanish Alpinist Alex Txikon, who is all set to climb Everest this Winter without supplemental oxygen from Nepal Side, is now at Ama Dablam for acclimatization climb.
Previously in Antarctica along with his two partners, Alex climbed a new line there: Lorezuri (approximate translation: white flower).
Gasherbrum I
Simone Moro and Tamara Lunger who were all set to climb Gasherbrum I this winter have abandoned their expedition after having survived a fatal crevasse-fall on 18th January, 2020 while climbing towards Camp-1.
