First Indian Ascent of the peak by IMF-Pathajatra National team. First Ascent by North ridge. Though it's elder sister Bhagirathi-II gets many visitors every year but the technically difficult Bhagirathi-III never saw any Indian climbers till 2015 June when one All women IMF team attempted this peak and retreated from the summit ridge for technical difficulty. Later in post-monsoon IMF joined hand with a private club of Kolkata, Pathajatra-IMF joint team led by Debabrata Mukherjee launched the expedition from 30th August - 21st September. Four members of the team (including the leader) and three HAPs reached the summit on 15th September, 2015 at 11.15 hrs.
