Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, a pilgrimage festival of Uttarakhand is considered as the 'Kunbh' of Himalaya. The people from Garhwal region of high-Himalayas organize this holy Yatra once in every 12 years. The festival is named after the peak, Nanda Devi, the primary deity of the peak. This year (2014), the pilgrimage started from Chamoli village on 18th August and ended on 6th September at Ghat after covering approximately 250 Kms of trek route. This trek (yatra) trail which is considered to be one of the biggest trails in Uttarakhand passes through many places in high-Himalayas including Roopkund, Homekund, Wan Village, Baidini Bugial etc. People from all across the country come to attend this holy Yatra.
